The First Snowfall of the Season

It was another October morning as I woke up and saw to my surprise, that the world was covered in a blanket of white. It seems that the snow comes earlier ever year that passes. I couldn't believe that just days before, I had spent a day at the lake in the sun and now winter has come. Seeing the large flakes that fell like balls of cotton was a familiar sight to see. At first I thought, “Why does winter have to come so soon?” but I started to notice the beauty of it all.

I had to grab my camera to document the appearance of the season’s first winter wonderland. I looked out my window and saw how the droplets of water gleamed in the defused light of the snow-covered mountains beyond. I was intrigued by the white misty fog as it drifted across the rooftops before me. I enjoyed feeling the cold brisk air as I stepped outside to observe the snowflakes falling upon the bench outside my door. I had to capture the moment of the snow melting off the red autumn leaves.

It was a great sight to behold, everything white and pure; something that I have truly taken for granted in years past. Though I don’t enjoy driving in the snow-blanketed streets, I have seen the great transformation of the changing seasons. It was amazing to see how the snow melted almost as quickly as it came. Just the next day, all of the winter wonderland that I had beheld was nearly gone without as trace of its presence. It was just a quick glimpse of what is to come and enjoy this coming holiday season.

The Meaning of "See, Capture & Create"

This Blog for me, is an opportunity to share the way I express my creativity, from Photography to video and creative writing, about the the things I see in the world around me that we often take for granted. I see this as a way to help others and myself to open our eyes and see the world in a new perspective; to see even the simplest of things in life in a new light. I would like to share Photos and video of my own as well as the work of others that I appreciate that helps depict my growing perspective of the world. I hope that the things that I share can be of worth to you and will help you see and capture the good things in life and create from it, a new perspective of your own.

About Me

My Name is Josh Stephens. I was born and raised here in South Ogden Utah, I love to travel, I value the time I spend with friends and family. I enjoy getting to know others for who they really are and making new friends. I like music and making it too. I have spent much of my life singing in many choirs. I also like to play the piano and currently am beginning to learn guitar.

I co-founded a video production company in 2008 that produces wedding videos called “Reflection Video & Media LLC.” I became the sole owner of this business in March of 2012 after returning from 2 years of service to my church working with the Hispanic community in Alabama. In my business I have the responsibility of filming and professionally editing wedding videos all throughout Utah and Idaho.

I’m currently a student at Weber State University and expect to graduate in 2015 with a BA in Communications, Public Relations & Advertising with an emphasis in Visual Communications. I capture the good times whether it be in snapping photos, recording video, or just writing things down that help me to really see all the great things I get to enjoy in this life. I love to create and express my creativity by taking those things that I’ve recorded and adding an artistic edge to them so that others can appreciate those things just as much as I do.
